Baseball is an outdoor sport in which a pitcher pitches a hard, fist sized ball to the hitting area of a batter. The batter hits the hard ball with a tapered, smooth, cylindrical bat made up of wood or metal. The batsman scores by running counter-clockwise within the four markers called the bases arranged at the corners of a diamond. Baseball is sometimes called hardball to differentiate it from similar games such as softball. 
 
Carl Yastrzemski was a well known baseball player. He was elected in the hall of fame in 1989. His full name is Carl Michael Yastrzemski and is nicknamed as Yaz. Carl Yastrzemski was born on August 22nd, 1939, in Southampton, New York. His height is 5 foot 11 inches and weight is 182 pounds.  He was 21 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 11th, 1961, with the Boston Red Sox which is his first game and he played his last game on 2nd October 1983.
 
He received the MVP, Most Valuable Player Award in 1967 and Gold Glove in 1963, 65, from 67 to 69 and 71. When he retired after 23 years, he ranked first in career games with 3,308, third in at-bats with 11,988 and walks with 1,845, sixth in total bases with 5,539, seventh in hits with 3,419 and doubles with 646, and ninth in RBI, Runs Batted In with 1,844. He is the only American League player with both 3000 hits and 400 homers.
 
Carl Yastrzemski with all his dedication and devotion in his play has achieved many hallmarks in his overall baseball-playing career. He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by giving some extra hard work and efforts.
