Rinker, Laurie
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. LPGA stands for Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour, which is an American organization for female professional golfers headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida. Rinker Laurie was born on 28 September 1962, in Stuart, Florida. Her height is 5 feet 6 inches and competed as Laurie Rinker-Graham from 1992 to 2003. A collegiate All-American in 1980 and 1982 at the University of Florida, Rinker won the 1980 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship and the 1982 Doherty Challenge Cup. She was honored as Golf Digest’s Junior of the Year in 1980. In July 1982, she qualified for the Tour by finishing fifth at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn exempt status for the 1983 season. She continued her education and traveled to the University of Florida during off weeks to graduate in 1983. In 2003, her best finish was a tie for 24th at the Wachovia LPGA Classic hosted by Betsy King and returned to the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she finished fourth to earn exempt status for the 2004 season. In 2002, her best finish was a tie for the 27th position at the Aerus Electrolux USA Championship, hosted by Vince Gill and Amy Grant. She crossed the 1 million dollar mark in career earnings at The Office Depot Championship, hosted by Amy Alcott. In 2000, her best finish was a tie for 11th at the Firstar LPGA Classic in conjunction with the Children’s Medical Center. With all her dedication and devotion in her play, Rinker achieved many goals in her overall professional golf career. She had the ability of reaching the pinnacle easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. She never lost hope in herself and always fought hard to achieve her goal.
