Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for atleast five centuries in the British Isles. LPGA stands for Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour. LPGA, in is an American organization for female professional golfers. The organization, with headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida runs a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world from February to November each year. The LPGA was founded in 1950 by a group of 13 women. LPGA Tour's events are held in the United States. Roberta Speer, LPGA player was born on December 22, 1946, in Tampa, FL. In 1982 best finish T37, Birmingham classic, her career best finish is T4. Roberta had an outstanding amateur career, highlighted by the 1965 National Collegiate Championship. She was a member of the 1968 U.S Curtis Cup team. She still holds the record for being the youngest player ever to reach the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur championship a feat she accomplished when she was but 14. Her professional career has been severely hampered by lower back problems. In 1975, she had an operation for two ruptured discs and is presently plagued by small joint disease in her lower back. Unfortunately, her 1982 campaign was restricted to eight tourneys. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Miami, Roberta also received an MS in Economics from Arizona State. Roberta Speer, with all her dedication and devotion in her play achieved many goals in her overall athletic career. She had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. She never lost hope in herself and always fought hard to achieve her goal. She is still remembered as one of the best athletes in the history of Olympics.
