LPGA stands for Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour. LPGA, in is an American organization for female professional golfers. The organization, with headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida runs a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world from February to November each year. The LPGA was founded in 1950 by a group of 13 women. LPGA Tour's events are held in the United States.
 
Murphy, Mary was born on 28th August 1959 in Birmingham, Michigan. Murphy had a successful year in 1977 as a junior, winning the National Junior Championship and finishing as runner-up in the Junior World. She was the 1978 Harder Hall champion and a 1978 quarter-finalist in the Western Women's Championship. Also in 1978, Murphy was named an All-American while attending Southern Methodist University. Her team captured the NCAA, National Collegiate Athletic Association in 1979.
 
Joined the Tour in 1985. In her rookie season, she finished sixth in the 1986 Cellular One-PING Golf Championship. In 1987, she had a shoulder injury and played a limited schedule. In 1988, she tied for 16th at the Circle K LPGA Tucson Open and tied for 19th at the Chrysler-Plymouth Classic. She posted her career-best finish, a solo fifth, at the 1990 U.S. Women's Open. She had the most successful financial season of her career in 1992 with earnings of 33,741 Dollars. Tied for ninth at the 1992 Oldsmobile Classic, where she posted a new career-low round of 67 during the second round. She later tied it during the second round of the 1992 Safeco Classic. Posted a new career-low scoring average of 74.21 in 1992. She tied her career-low score of 67 during the first round of the 1993 Youngstown-Warren LPGA Classic.
 
Murphy’s superior approach and dedication towards the sport made her surpass the other players of her epoch and became an international celebrity and a symbol of hope to millions.
