Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for atleast five centuries in the British Isles. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. LPGA, Ladies Professional Golf Association is an American organization for female professional golfers. The organization, with headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida runs a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world from February to November each year. The LPGA was founded in 1950 by a group of 13 women. LPGA Tour's events are held in the United States. Mackey, Cindy is a LPGA player. She was born on 2 April 1961 in Athens, Georgia. Her height is five foot nine inches. She joined LPGA in August, 1983. She was the winner of the 1977 and 1982 Peach State Championship. Mackey also won the 1982 Canadian Amateur. She was a semi-finalist in the 1982 North-South Amateur, 1981 Western Amateur and 1979 USGA, United States Golf Association Girls Junior. She was named to the All-SEC team in 1982 and 1983 while playing for the University of Georgia. She also was a 1982 AIAW, Association of Intercollegiate Athletic for Women All-American and 1983 NCAA, National Collegiate Athletic Association All- American award. Mackey was runner-up to Amy Benz as the 1982 AIAW National Champion. She has recorded her first LPGA career hole-in-one during the second round of the 1990 Mazda LPGA Championship. She also recorded her second career hole-in-one during the second round of the 1991 PING-Cellular One LPGA Golf Championship. She recorded her third career hole-in-one during the fourth round of the 1992 Women’s Kemper Open. She played a limited schedule of three events in 1995 due to maternity leave. She is one of the best known golf players. A unique style of game strategy and excellent judgment is what makes this great player one of the best all time golf players. Sheer determination, concentration and self confidence have helped her through out her professional career.
