Lunke, Hilary
LPGA stands for Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour. LPGA, in is an American organization for female professional golfers. The organization, with headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida runs a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world from February to November each year. The LPGA was founded in 1950 by a group of 13 women. LPGA Tour's events are held in the United States. Lunke, Hilary was born on 7th June 1979 in Edina, Minnesota. With a height of five feet seven inch, Lunke has competed in seven U.S. Women’s Amateur Championships. In 1997 and 1999, she was the runner-up at the Women’s Western Amateur. She was a member of the 2000 U.S. Curtis Cup and World Amateur Teams. While attending Stanford, she was a four-time All-American and won two collegiate titles. In 2001, before turning professional, she was the South Atlantic Amateur champion. In 2001, she turned professional in August and qualified for the Tour by tying for 31st at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn non-exempt status for the 2002 season. In 2002, her best finish of the season was a tie for 15th at the Wendy’s Championship for Children at Tartan Fields. She returned to the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she tied for 17th to earn exempt status for the 2003 season. In 2003, she made history with her thrilling 18-hole playoff victory over Angela Stanford and Kelly Robbins at the U.S. Women’s Open conducted by the USGA, the United States Golf Association, becoming one of 14 players in LPGA history to make the U.S. Women’s Open her first LPGA victory. She was also the first player in the history of the U.S. Women’s Open to win the event after qualifying through local and sectional qualifiers. With all her dedication and devotion in her play, Lunke achieved many goals in her overall professional golf career. She had the ability of reaching the pinnacle easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. She never lost hope in herself and always fought hard to achieve her goal.
