Hammel, Penny
Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for at least five centuries in the British Isles. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play.
LPGA stands for Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour. LPGA, in is an American organization for female professional golfers. The organization, with headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida runs a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world from February to November each year. The LPGA was founded in 1950 by a group of 13 women. LPGA Tour's events are held in the United States.
Hammel, Penny was one of the LPGA players. She was born on 24th March 1962, in Decatur, Illinois. Her height is five foot five inches and started playing golf at the age of seven. In 2003, her best finish was a tie for 14th at the Shop Rite LPGA Classic. In 2002, her best finish was a tie for seventh at the Safeway Classic. In 2001, she tied for second, her best finish since 1997, at the YourLife Vitamins LPGA Classic. In 2000, her best finish was a tie for 19th at the Wegmans Rochester International. In 1999, her best finish was a tie for 16th at the Wegmans Rochester International. She recorded her third LPGA career hole-in-one during the first round of the Sara Lee Classic. In 1998, she finished fourth at the LPGA Corning Classic, which was her best finish of the season. Hammel’s junior credits include victories in 1979 at the PGA, Professional Golfers Association Junior, Junior Orange Bowl, United States Girls’ Junior and Illinois Junior championships. In 1983, she was a quarterfinalist at the United States Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship and the low amateur at the Florida Women’s Open. As a member of the University of Miami women’s golf team, Hammel won the 1983 NCAA, National Collegiate Athletic association individual championship and her team won the title in 1984. Hammel was a 1983-84 All-American and a member of the 1984 U.S. Curtis Cup Team.
She enjoys racquetball, tennis and going to the beach. Her superior approach and dedication to the game made him stand out from the crowd.
