Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. LPGA stands for Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour. LPGA, in is an American organization for female professional golfers. The organization, with headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida runs a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world from February to November each year. The LPGA was founded in 1950 by a group of 13 women. LPGA Tour's events are held in the United States. Cockerill Kay was born on 16 October 1964 in San Jose, California. She joined LPGA on October, 1987. She began playing golf at the age of 12. Her career earnings, rank are $206,238 and 220 respectively. Cockerill is a two-time U.S. Women’s Amateur champion, winning in 1986 and 1987. She was a medalist and finalist in the 1987 Broadmoor and a medalist and quarter-finalist in the 1986 Trans-National. Two times All-American at UCLA, University of California at Los Angeles, she won six events and placed fourth in the 1986 NCAA, National Collegiate Athletic Association Championship and was a three-time all-conference and was twice named MVP, Most Valuable Player. In her career, prior to joining the LPGA, she played in the 1986 and 1987 U.S. Women’s Open Championships and the 1987 Nestle World. As a rookie in 1988, she tied for ninth in the Chrysler-Plymouth Classic and tied for 16th in the U.S. Women’s Open. She recorded her first LPGA hole-in-one at the 1988 Konica San Jose Classic. She posted her career-best finish, a tie for third, at the 1991 LPGA Bay State Classic. In 1991, she had her best financial season ever by earning $78,151 to rank 62nd. In 1992, she won the Budget Service Award for her involvement in the LPGA Urban Youth Golf Program and the implementation LPGA Pen Pal Program. Her best finish in 1994 was a 24th place finish at the Weetabix Women’s British Open. She tied for 32nd at the 1995 Friendly’s Classic where she tied her career-low round of 66 during the first round. She named 1993 winner of Founders Cup by Golf Digest for contributions to LPGA Junior Golf Program. She received the 1994 Samaritan Award and appeared in the 1989 and 1992 Fairway magazine. She was a legendry golf player known for an outstanding play during her time.
