James Henry (Jimmy) Gardner




NHL, the National Hockey League is a premier professional North American Sports League played in indoor stadiums. It’s divided into two conferences, each comprising of three divisions of ice hockey teams. The league was established in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec and it is composed of 30 teams out of which 24 teams based in U.S. and 6 in Canada. They have a regular season and playoffs leading to the Stanley Cup, which is the NHL Championship final.
 
James Henry Gardner nicknamed as Jimmy was born on 21st May 1881, in Montreal, Quebec. He Played 12 pre NHL seasons from 1900 to 1915 as a star left winger. Jimmy Gardner was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Famers list in the year 1962. He led two teams, Montreal Amateur Athletic Association's club in 1902 and 1903 and the Montreal Wanderers in 1909 and 1910 to win a total of four Stanley Cups. He was named as the All-Star team in 1905.
 
After retirement, he returned to coaching in the Canadian-American League with the Providence Reds in 1928 1929 and 1929 1930, winning the championship in 1929 1930. By the late 1930's he was coaching the Verdun and Sherbrooke teams in the Quebec League.

James Henry Gardner popularly known as Jimmy Gardner is remembered as a powerful skater with a lethal shot who back-checked responsibly and played the game cleanly. He, with all his dedication and devotion in his play has achieved many goals in his overall hockey-playing career. He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by giving some extra hard work and efforts.
