Darryl Glen Sittler
NHL, the National Hockey League is a premier professional North American Sports League played in indoor stadiums. It’s divided into two conferences, each comprising of three divisions of ice hockey teams. The league was established in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec and it is composed of 24 teams based in U.S. and 6 in Canada. They have a regular season and playoffs leading to the Stanley Cup, which is the NHL Championship final.
Born in 1950 in Kitchener, Ontario, Darryl first played his way to prominence with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey Association. He was selected by the Leafs overall in the 1970 Entry Draft. He was the second-youngest to take captain's duties. Darryl Sittler was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Famers in 1989.
In 1976, he produced the greatest offensive game in the history of the National Hockey League, guaranteeing his place in the record books even after Wayne Gretzky. In 1978, he registered 117 points and was selected to the league's second All-Star Team. He led the Leafs to the semi-finals. In 1983, he netted 83 points and a spot in the All-Star Game. He was then selected by the Detroit Red Wings before the 1984 1985 season where he played for one year and then retired after the season.
Darryl Sittler is remembered as a powerful skater with a lethal shot who back-checked responsibly and played the game cleanly. He, with all his dedication and devotion in his play has achieved many goals in his overall hockey-playing career. He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by giving some extra hard work and efforts.
