NHL, the National Hockey League is a premier professional North American Sports League played in indoor stadiums. It’s divided into two conferences, each comprising of three divisions of ice hockey teams.  The league was established in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec and it is composed of 24 teams based in U.S. and 6 in Canada. They have a regular season and playoffs leading to the Stanley Cup, which is the NHL Championship final.

Dale Hawerchuk was born on 4th April, 1963 in the Rexdale area of Toronto. Beginning competitive hockey at age four, he demonstrated superior skills almost instantly. At the age of 15, he joined the Oshawa Generals. In 1979, he was selected by the Cornwall Royals of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He recorded 103 points and received the Rookie-of-the-Year honor. During the playoffs, he was named Most Valuable Player, MVP, scoring 45 points in 18 games. He then led the Royals to the Memorial Cup championship, where he got the Most Sportsmanlike Player Award and was named to the All-Star Team.
 
He became the youngest NHL player in history to reach the 100-point plateau, finishing with 103 points, which was the second best total by a rookie in NHL history. For his efforts, he got the Calder Memorial Trophy as Rookie-of-the-Year. He was the 23rd player to reach the 500 goal plateau in 1995 1996 and the 31st player to record 1,000 points in 1990 1991. His final career totals included 518 goals, 891 assists and 1,409 points, placing him 10th on the career NHL points list.

Dale Hawerchuk is remembered as a powerful skater with a lethal shot who back-checked responsibly and played the game cleanly. He, with all his dedication and devotion in his play has achieved many goals in his overall hockey-playing career. He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by giving some extra hard work and efforts.
