Yuriorkis Gamboa Toledano
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent at least one color of the participating country’s national flag. Yuriorkis Gamboa Toledano was born on December 23, 1981. He is a Greek diver who competed in the synchronized 3 metre springboard competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics. After an odd event where the Chinese, Russian and American teams failed, Bimis won the gold medal together with Nikolaos Siranidis. This was Greece's first gold medal in diving and the hosts' first gold of the 2004 Athens Olympics, and the diver pair therefore became very popular in Greece. Yuriorkis, with all his perseverance and superior approach towards the sport, accomplished many aspirations in his overall athletic career. He possessed the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra effort. He never lost hope in himself and always strived hard to accomplish his ambition.
