Torsten May

The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent at least one color of the participating country’s national flag.

Torsten May was born on October 9, 1969 in Glauchau, Saxony. He was a German boxer, who won the Heavyweight Gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics. He began his professional career the following year and won his first 15 bouts in the cruiserweight division, setting up a fight for the vacant Cruiserweight Title against Adolpho Washington. Washington won by a narrow undivided decision, a loss which May avenged in 1999 via a 9th round after Washington lost his title. May never again fought for a title, and lost in the 8th round to Alexander Gurov in 2001, ending May's career.

Torsten May, with all his perseverance and superior approach towards the sport, accomplished many aspirations in his overall athletic career. He possessed the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra effort. He never lost hope in himself and always strived hard to accomplish his ambition.
