Alexander Vasilyevich Tkachev is one of the finest athletes who set an appreciated position for himself in the Olympic history. He is a former Soviet or Russian gymnast who was born on October 4, 1957 in the Semiluki suburb of Voronezh Oblast at Russia. He was also a two times Olympic Champion and one of the world's strongest gymnasts between 1977 and 1981.
 
In 1977, Tkachev performed for the first time a gymnastics element on the horizontal bar, which was later named Tkachev after him and became one of the most popular and impressive elements, frequently used on international gymnastics competitions. He gained prominence when he compiled a gold medal at the Olympic events.
 
Tkachev’s superior approach and dedication towards the sport made him surpass the other players of his epoch. He also became an international celebrity and a symbol of hope to millions.
