Aletta van Manen is one of the finest athletes who set an appreciated position for herself in the Olympic history. She is a former Dutch field hockey defender who was born on October 20, 1958 in Wageningen. She won the golden medal with the National Women's Team at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
 
Four years later in Seoul, Manen captured the bronze medal with the national side. From 1983 to 1988 she played a total number of 81 international matches for Holland, in which she scored two goals. Van Manen retired after the 1988 Summer Olympics in South Korea.
 
Manen never lost hope in herself and always strived hard to achieve her ambition. She possessed the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. With all her perseverance and superior approach towards the sport, Manen achieved many aspirations in her overall athletic career.
