Wouter van Pelt
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896.The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag.
Wouter van Pelt was born April 23, 1968 in Alphen aan den Rijn. He is a former Dutch field hockey player, who played 236 international matches for The Netherlands, in which he scored 21 goals. The defender made his debut for the Dutch on March 27, 1989 in a match against England.
He played in the Dutch League for Breda. Van Pelt was a member of the Dutch national team that won the golden medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Four years later, at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, the Dutch once again won the title, with Van Pelt on board. He stopped playing hockey at top level in 2005.
Wouter van Pelt with all his dedication and devotion in his play achieved many goals in his overall athletic career. He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. He never lost hope in himself and always fought hard to achieve his goal. He is still remembered as one of the best athletes in the history of Olympics.
