Tatiana Gutsu
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896.The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag. Tatiana Konstantinovna Gutsu was born on September 5, 1976 in Odessa. She is a Ukrainian gymnast and winner of the 1992 Olympic all-around title. Gutsu became a member of the national team of the Soviet Union in 1988. Her first major international competition was the 1991 World Championships in Indianapolis, where she won the team title with the Soviet Union and finished fifth in the individual all-around, while winning silver medals in two individual apparatus finals the bars and beam. In early 1992, Gutsu won the all-around, vault, and balance beam at the European Championships. She was the most successful gymnast of the championship and clearly established herself as one of the favorites for the Olympic all-around title. She had been on course to win the optional portion of the team competition, and was also one of the favourites for the beam gold medal. Gutsu final performance on vault was just enough to hold off the challenge of American Shannon Miller Gutsu won the title by 0.012. In a very successful Olympic campaign, she also took home additional medals in the team competition is gold medals, uneven bars is silver medals and floor exercise is bronze medals. She never lost hope in herself and always fought hard to achieve her goal. She is still remembered as one of the best gymnast in the history of Olympics.
