Stefan Liv
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896.The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag. Stefan Liv was born on December 21, 1980, in Gdynia, Poland. He is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender currently under contract with the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL, National Hockey League. Stefan Liv was the starting goaltender in HV71 and is often chosen for the Swedish national team; on December 22, 2005, he was named as third goaltender to Team Sweden for the 2006 Winter Olympics. He wears the glove on his left hand. He is agile, quick in moving from side to side, and good with close-ranged shots; and his unorthodox style reminds some of Dominik Hasek. Liv played his first Elite League game in Sweden on January 18, 2000, in Jonkoping for his team HV71 against Lulea HF, Half Life. His first national appearance was in a match against Czech Republic, also in Jonkoping, on November 9, 2000. Stefan Liv was drafted in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by Detroit Red Wings with their 3rd round, in the 102nd overall selection. Liv signed a one-year contract with the Red Wings in May, 2006. The contract also makes him eligible for play in the AHL, American Hockey League for the Grand Rapids. His records are Elitserien record for most shutouts in playoffs is 6 HV71's club record for total minutes played and he is Awarded such as Nominated to the Elitserien Rookie of the Year in 2001, Bronze medal Ice Hockey World Championship in 2002, Awarded the Honken Trophy in 2002, Silver medal Ice Hockey World Championship in 2004, Elitserien playoff winner with HV71 in 2004, Gold medal Winter Olympics in 2006 and Gold medal Ice Hockey World Championship in 2006.
