Vicente Fernandez

Vicente Fernandez was born on 17th of February 1940 in Corrientes, Argentina. He is a 5 foot 10 inch, 170 pound Professional Golfer who plays on the championship tours. He is nicknamed as Chino.

His recorded Champions Tour victories are the 1996 Burnet Senior Classic, the 1997 Bank One Classic, the 1999 Las Vegas Senior Classic and the 2003 ACE Group Classic.  In his 2005 Champions Tour he was a top 4 also won the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am.

In 1996, his first win was a memorable one and posted a one-stroke victory at the Burnet Senior Classic in July and in the process, became just the fifth Monday qualifier in Champions Tour history to win a tournament. In 1998 he closed with a 68 at the Las Vegas Senior Classic, but fell one stroke shy of Hale Irwin. In 2000 he finished second to Bruce Fleisher by two points at the Royal Caribbean Classic, a Modified Stableford event. He was also among the early leaders at the Nationwide Championship, but was edged out on the final day by Hale Irwin and top 2 at the Golf Cub of Georgia. In 2001 he was top 2 at the Las Vegas Senior Classic.

In  2003 he won The ACE Group Classic in Naples. Played all but the first hole of the event without a bogey and notched his first Champions Tour win in three years and nine months. In 2004 he earned nearly half his money of 301,340 US dollars in the last two months of the campaign to get into the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship. In 2005, he finished out of the top 40 in single-season earnings for the first time in his career. He had his two best tournaments in the first third of the season, with both top-10s coming in Florida. In contention throughout the weather-shortened Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am and eventually  top 4 near Tampa, his second consecutive top-10 performance at the TPC, Tournament Players Course, of Tampa Bay.

Though he joined the Professional ranks much later than some of its younger stars, his sheer determination and purpose of will, to excel in that which he puts his heart and mind to and the self-belief that one day his star too will shine just as it did in his amateur days, will see him through.
