Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for atleast five centuries in the British Isles the two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. The Tour Championship is the final event of golf's PGA Tour season. The top 30 money winners on the PGA Tour after the penultimate event qualify for the Championship, which is one of the richest tournaments on the tour.

Tom McKnight was born on 24 August 1954, in Roanoke, Virginia. His height is six foot one inch and weight is 190 pounds. His victories include Virginia State Amateur in 1984, Virginia Open in 1985, Virginia State Amateur in 1989, Eastern Amateur in 1993, Eastern Amateur in 1995, Cardinal Amateur in 1996, Eastern Amateur in 1997, and Calabash Golf Links in 2001. His current year best Champions Tour includes win in 5 regions Charity Classic, and round is 66 at round 3 at the Allianz Championship. In the 2006 Champions Tour he finished fifth at the Regions Charity Classic in early May near Birmingham.

In 2005 he turned in a solid rookie campaign and finished among the top 25 in a third of his appearances he went into the last full-field event, the Championship, on the bubble for the top 30, but was bumped out of a spot in the Charles Schwab Cup Championship when he finished T28 in San Antonio. He had best finish on the Champions Tour with a T3 at the Ford Senior Players Championship in Dearborn in July. He still picked up a career best check for 165,000 dollars. He also made a nice showing at the Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn in October, firing three straight sub-par rounds to place T4.

Tom McKnight is one of the best known golf players in the history of the game. A unique style of game strategy and excellent judgment is what makes this great player one of the best all time golf players. Sheer determination, concentration and self confidence has helped him through out his professional career of playing golf to achieve what other players can only imagine of.
