John Mahaffey was born on May 9, 1948 in Kerrville, Texas. His height is 5 feet 9 inches with a weight of 160 pounds. He became professional in the year 1971. His PGA Tour victories include the 1973 Sahara Invitational, the 1978 PGA Championship, American Optical Classic, the 1979 Bob Hope Desert Classic, the 1980 Kemper Open, the 1981 Anheuser-Busch Golf Classic, the 1984 Bob Hope Classic, the 1985 Texas Open, the 1986 Tournament Players Championship and the 1989 Federal Express St. Jude Classic. His Champions Tour victories include 1999 Southwestern Bell Dominion and the other victories include the 1978 World Cup, the 1979 World Cup, and the 1982 J.C. Penney Classic. In 1998, he debuted at the Saint Luke's Classic and T26 at the Kansas City event. He finished T2 at the Utah Showdown, where he finished four strokes behind Gil Morgan. In 1999, he won his only Champions Tour event at the Southwestern Bell Dominion. He has made a 30-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole to beat Jose Maria Canizares and Bruce Fleisher. He has holed a clutch 20-foot birdie putt at the 17th hole in regulation to get into the overtime session. John Mahaffey is a player who wants him to be counted amongst the top golf-players in the world. He is completely devoted in his play.
