Golf is an outdoor sport where player as an individual or from varied teams strike a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for atleast five centuries in the British Isles. The two basic forms of playing golf are match play and stroke play. The Tour Championship is the final event of golf's PGA Tour season. The top 30 money winners on the PGA Tour after the penultimate event qualify for the Championship, which is one of the richest tournaments on the tour.
 
James Mason was born on January 7, 1951 in Duluth, Georgia. He turned Professional in 1973 and Joined Senior PGA, Professional Golf’s Association Tour in 2002. His Champions Tour Victories were, in the year 2001 he played in five Champions Tour events, all via successful open qualifying. His Best finish of 2001 was a T38 at the Allianz Championship. In 2002 he became just the eighth open qualifier in Champions Tour history to win a tournament, when he triumphed at the Golf Classic in Clifton, New Jersey. He also qualified for the event on Tuesday when he posted a 67 at Green Brook  in North Caldwell, New Jersey.
 
In 2003 he credited with three top-10 finishes and was 41st on the final money list with $465,985, a little more than $20,000 over his previous year's earnings. His Best finish was a T8 at the FleetBoston Classic. He made just 15 appearances on the Champions Tour, including three through open qualifying, registering four top-10 finishes, the most ever had in a single season. He had nine straight sub-par rounds that included back-to-back top-10s-T6 at the Bayer Advantage Classic and T8 at the Allianz Championship. He also led the Champions Tour in Sand Save Percentage, getting up and down from the bunker 64.1 percent of the time 41 of 64.
 
James Mason was one of the best known golf players in the history of the game. A unique style of game strategy and excellent judgment is what makes this great player one of the best all time golf players. Sheer determination, concentration and self confidence has helped him through out his professional career of playing golf to achieve what other players can only imagine of.
