Minke Smabers
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896.The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent at least one color of the participating country’s national flag. Minke Smabers was born on March 22, 1979 in Den Haag, Zuid-Holland. He is a field hockey midfielder from the Netherlands, who played more than 200 international matches for the Dutch National Women's Team. She made her debut on June 29, 1997 against South Korea and was a member of the team that won the bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Four years later she captured silver at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Her older sister Hanneke also played international hockey for the Dutch Women's Team. Minke Smabers with all her dedication and devotion in her play achieved many goals in her overall athletic career. She had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. She never lost hope in herself and always fought hard to achieve her goal.
