Inge Bodding
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896 and were held every four years except in 1916, 1940 and 1944 due to the World Wars. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag. Inge Bodding, nee Eckhoff was born on March 19, 1947 in Hamburg. She is a retired German athlete who competed mainly in the 400 meters. She competed for West Germany in the 1972 Summer Olympics held in Munich in the 4 by 400 meters where she won the bronze medal with her teammates Anette Ruckes, Hildegard Falck and Rita Wilden. She was a strong determined player who urged and inculcated a team spirit in all professional athletes of her nation. She is still respected as a high caliber player who can build the professionalism in sport to lead her nation at the foremost position.
