The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896 and were held every four years except in 1916, 1940 and 1944 due to the World Wars. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag.
 
Jan Hidde Kruize was born on September 30, 1961 in Den Haag. He is a former field hockey player from The Netherlands, who participated in two Summer Olympics in 1984 Los Angeles and in 1988 Seoul. He ended up in sixth place in California with the Dutch National Men's Team, and won the bronze medal in South Korea, after defeating Australia by 2-1 in the Bronze Medal Game.
 
He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. He never lost hope in himself and always fought hard to achieve his goal. He is still remembered as one of the best athletes in the history of Olympics. He is a player known for his mental toughness owing to which many of his famous matches went the distance.
