Herbert Bauch
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896 and were held every four years except in 1916, 1940 and 1944 due to the World Wars. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent at least one color of the participating country’s national flag.
Herbert Bauch was born on May 18, 1957. He is a retired boxer, who represented East Germany at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Soviet Union. There he won the bronze medal in the light heavyweight division minus 81 kg, after being defeated in the semifinals by eventual gold medalist Slobodan Kacar of Yugoslavia. Two years earlier he captured the bronze medal at the second World Championships in Belgrade.
Herbert Bauch was a strong determined player who urged and inculcated a team spirit in all professional athletes of his nation. He is still respected as a high caliber player who can build the professionalism in sport to lead his nation at the foremost position. His superior approach and dedication to the game made him stand out from the crowd.
