The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896 and were held every four years except in 1916, 1940 and 1944 due to the World Wars. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag.
 
Georgios Papasideris was born in 1876 and was a Greek athlete and weightlifter. He competed at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens. Papasideris competed in the shot put, placing third. His best throw was 10.36 meters. He also threw the discus, placing somewhere between fifth and last ninth place.
 
In the two-handed weightlifting event, now known as clean and jerk, Papasideris tied for fourth place with Carl Schuhmann of Germany. They had both lifted 90.0 kilograms.

He is a player known for his mental toughness owing to which many of his famous matches went the distance. His superior approach and dedication to the game made him stand out from the crowd.
