George Asanidze
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896 and were held every four years except in 1916, 1940 and 1944 due to the World Wars. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag. George Asanidze was born on August 30, 1975 in Sachkhere and is a Georgian weightlifter. He competed in the Men's 85 kilogram at the 2000 Summer Olympics where he won a bronze medal and 2004 Summer Olympics where he won a gold medal. He was a bronze medalist in 2000 Olympic Games and was a senior world champion in 2001. He was also silver medalist in senior world championship in 2002 and was a three time senior European champion from 2000 to 2002. He has set two world records so far in his career. He is a player known for his mental toughness owing to which many of his famous matches went the distance. His superior approach and dedication to the game made him stand out from the crowd.
