The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Gosta Pettersson was born on November 23, 1940 in Alingsas Municipality. He is a Swedish former professional road racing cyclist and three time Olympic medalist. The highlight of his career was his overall win in the 1971 Giro d'Italia.
 
In 1967, The Faglum brothers Erik Pettersson, Gosta Pettersson, Sture Pettersson and Tomas Pettersson were awarded the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal. The brothers won the World Amateur Cycling Championships in middle of 1967 to 1969 along with a silver medal in the 1968 Summer Olympics in 100 kilometer Team Time Trial. He also won bronze in 1964 Summer Olympics in 100 kilometer Team Time Trial and in 1968 Summer Olympics in Men's Individual Road Race. He won bronze in 1964 World Amateur Cycling Championships in185 kilometer Men's Road Race.
 
Gosta Pettersson with all his dedication and devotion in his play achieved many goals in his overall athletic career. He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. He never lost hope in himself and always fought hard to achieve his goal. He is still remembered as one of the best athletes in the history of Olympics.
