Georg Hettich
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896.The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag. Georg Hettich was born on October 12, 1978 in Furtwangen, Schwarzwald. He is a German Nordic combined skier and an Olympic medalist. He was a surprise winner of the 15 km individual event at the 2006 Winter Olympics. At the 2002 Winter Olympics, he won a Bronze medal in the 4 by 5 km team event and repeated this in 2006. With his bronze in the 7.5 km sprint contest in 2006, he completed his medal collection. Hettich also won silver medals at the FIS, Federations Internationale de Ski Nordic World Ski Championships in the 4 by 5 km team event both in 2003 and 2005. He is the son of Urban Hettich, silver medalist in the Nordic combined at the 1976 Winter Olympics. They are the only father and son combination to ever win a medal in the Nordic combined at the Winter Olympics. Georg Hettich is a player known for his mental toughness owing to which many of his famous matches went the distance. His superior approach and dedication to the game made him stood out from the crowd. He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. He never lost hope in himself and always fought hard to achieve his goal. He is considered as one of the best athletes in the Olympics.
